There’s a lot more nature with the atmosphere and the landscapes. So, you get to think about less. You get to slow your pace down and get a little more time because transit time and waiting time is cut down. You slow down, man. You get more time to do stuff. It’s pretty.”

Video: Wise Intelligent Talks On The Current Hip Hop Environment

Although I agree with some of what Wise Intelligent is saying, I still think artists need to take responsibility for their music and not blame everything on the corporations. Yeah, I understand they have to feed their families but in the age of the internet I'd assume they have a fan base that will support them, because at the end of the day the fans don't care what label they're on. He used Young Buck as an example of compromise, but where's Young Buck's responsibility in taking a stand against the label for a song he made with a political message? I guess it stays in the booth for the homies and not the people who need to hear something meaningful from a dude like Young Buck. I'm not a Young Buck fan but I certainly would listen to a record about police brutality. Leave your thoughts.

Event: Rooftop Legends 2009 - 5/16/09

The opening of Rooftop Legends 2009 happened this weekend at the New Design High School in the Lower East Side. As part of Seward Park High School, which houses several high schools in the same building, New Design has come up with creative ways to raise money for their school. This long running exhibit has been a part of those efforts. For a donation, you can view the amazing graffiti pieces on the expansive rooftop of the school. Contributions are made by artists like the TATS Cru, KET, KEO, NOAH, WEN One, TRAP and many others. It really serves as a museum for the community and an opportunity for students to learn the art form from the very best. If you happen to be down in Loisada, stop by and check out the art, it's for a good cause.

In the midst of freeing themselves from a bad record deal and taking control of their destiny, Dilated always preserved their foundation. They proved you can succeed with the power of a fan base. Worldwide!

Bulletin: Nas Working With Pete Rock

Hip Hop heads can celebrate, Nas and Pete Rock are working on some new material. Spotted over at All Hip Hop. Props to Jigsaw.

The pair haven’t work together since Illmatic, even though they had great success as a team.

To this day, Pete Rock says he doesn't know why he and Nas didn't continue to collaborate in any fashion since the popularity of Illmatic.

He's not necessarily looking for answers either.

"I think it was a lot of situations [that caused the break off], but you know, but right now, I don't give a damn. That was the past. You know, I always wanted to get down to the bottom of it, to see what the problem was," Pete said. "Whatever it was, I know it was a lie. I always asked that question like ‘Why isn't he working with me,’” Pete said. "Other than that, I'm just happy that he reached out. Watch out. The beats are coming crazy."

Music Review: The Kid Daytona - The Daytona 500

I walk down the street, headphones in, backpack on, the weather begging for fresh kicks and gear. I look for the ignition, pressing play on my boombox. A voice, with a long Bronx drawl, prepares me for the building of the machine, eventually leading to takeoff. The blueprint is laid out in front of me.

The Wings, sketched out by 6th Sense, comes in with a nautical breath of fresh air. The drum patterns fall in, creating a bobble-head effect. The bass rolls throughout the words being delivered by The Kid Daytona. His flow lays perfectly, delivering lines like - Can't tell my time, cause I'm in another zone/but I never lose bars, I can always phone home and They like, look how fast he's moving/through the traffic/I'm laughing/cause I'm actually cruising/They sweating in the game/Patrick/Ewing, with a rapid cadence so smooth the FAA gave its stamp of approval.

Now it was time to set up The Body and it was Ill Bomb's job to lay out the perfect plan in order to reach the midway point of construction. The tricky part of this phase was the changes in the composition. Daytona stays on his toes, weaving in and out, seamlessly placing his words in the details. His hunger to fly is apparent.

Like any journey, you need heart, The Engine, to drive your purpose. Double O of Kidz In The Hall is summoned to bring out the right components to propel Daytona's path forward. As I take in the process, I start to see his personal vision unfold. The line, And I'm grown enough/to start owning up/to why I'm here, lets me in to a space where I can believe what's being said because I can relate to that level of honesty. The chemistry between O and Daytona gives the crew confidence in marking a destination.

The team now gathers in the conference room, mapping the first Navigation. Jet Audio leads the conversation with hard hitting drums and slick keys. It is now Daytona's job to give it some drive. It's clear he wants to succeed on his own terms, which gains respect among his peers. You can smell the fire within him burning, as flames shoot out every line.

The time arrives with no delays. The Takeoff is here and the crew look confident as The Government takes control of preparing the flight deck. As we leave the ground, Daytona pulls up the wheels as the synths and drums strap us in for a turbulence-free trip. Once we reach 30,000 feet Daytona speaks over the PA system, not missing a step in his flow as I hear his conviction spilling into the main cabin.

When I first stepped out I wasn't sure what kind of journey I was in for, nervous to take flight without destination. The Kid Daytona carried me throughout the building of his machine, clueing me in to his refreshing talent. The Daytona 500 exceeded my expectations, placing my confidence in his tagline, Come Fly With Me. With Daytona's passion and The Pit Crew he enlisted (6th Sense, Ill Bomb, Double O, The Government, Jet Audio, Harlem's Cash, Outasight), I have no doubt I'll be flying again.
